The present research statement of the problem is “Aggression of Secondary School Students in
relation to their gender and type of school”. The objectives of the study were: a) To study the
level of aggression among secondary school students. b) To study gender-wise difference in the
aggression of secondary school students and to study school-wise difference in the aggression of
secondary school students. This research is completed on senior secondary school students of
Himachal Pradesh both sex and Private & Govt. School Students. The purposive sampling
method is used for the selection of the sample. The three hundred are selected for the study. This
research gender (boys and girls), Type of School are independent variable and Aggression is
dependent variables. Aggression Scale for Children developed by Dr. R.L.Bhardwaj is used. In
short, secondary school students have very high level of aggression. There exists gender-wise
significant difference in the aggression of secondary school students. Because, Boys have higher
level of aggression than girls and there exists school-wise significant difference in the
aggression of secondary school students. Because, private school students have higher level of
aggression than government school students.

 In this 21st century, technology has changed the ways of educators to reach and teach their
students. Modern technology has opened new doors to unique opportunities for learners. It
has made easier to research, communicate and study the material. This idea encouraged
author to make a small effort to highlight the significance of 21st century skills for Indian inservice
teachers. Dramatic technological revolution has originated an increasingly diverse,
globalised and complex, media-saturated society. It has transformed the nature of school,
class and curriculum. For the optimal outcome of the educational objectives of students
teachers are also required to have adequate knowledge along with different modern skills
and a favourable attitude toward their profession. Researcher observed that there is a lot of
difference between pre-service and in-services teachers\\\' knowledge of perceived skill and
attitudes toward educational practices. Most of the in-service teachers are still doing with old
chalk and talk based methods. Teachers must accept the truth that passive education can\\\'t
help anyone and in this digital era the younger generation is becoming more and more tech
savvy. For them time has come to understand and acquire new teaching skills to update their
subject knowledge. It will not only help the students but will be beneficial for teachers also.

EFFECTS OF VIDEOS ON ENVIRONMENTAL KNOWLEDGE AND AWARENESS OF PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

 Over many centuries, the issue of environmental preservation has been on the top of the
agenda of global and international concerns as one of the most important issues at both the
national and international levels. As we look around at the area in which we live, we see
that our surroundings were originally a natural landscape such as a forest, a river, a
mountain, a desert, or a combination of these elements. Most of us live in landscapes that
have been heavily modified by human beings, in villages, towns or cities. But even those of
us who live in cities get our food supply from surrounding villages and these in turn are
dependent on natural landscapes such as forests, grasslands, rivers, seashores, for
resources such as water for agriculture, fuel, wood and fish. Thus our daily lives are linked
with our surroundings and inevitably affects them. Because of this problem all living and
Non – living things are affected and demolished day – by – day. So, it is the need of present
scenario to create knowledge and Awareness about the environment. As we know that
childhood stage is the base of a human person. If our early stage is safe and perfect then our
future will also automatically safe and perfect. We never forget the things which we learn in
our childhood stage. In this study investigators have made an attempt to study the
knowledge and awareness about the Environment of Primary level students and also find
out the effect of videos on the knowledge and awareness of students. The Environmental
Knowledge and Awareness Scale (EKAS) was administered on 120 primary school students.
Results indicate that videos play a significant role to enhance the environmental knowledge
and awareness of primary school students.

 Quality concern in school education is one of the major priorities, if quality education is the
goal, it cannot be achieved without the sincere efforts of teachers. There is sea change in the
mode of teacher Education process. The vibrant reorientation is taking place in the area of
curriculum construction, pedagogy and evaluation processes of teacher education. To meet the
need of the hour, the required competencies have to be essentially developed amongst student
teachers so that they face the real challenges in teaching learning process. These competencies
have to be based on practical experiences of self organization, communicable techniques and
thinking systematically with appropriate skills to perform with high degree of interest for
teaching. A fresh thinking has to start in the process of evaluation system at teacher education
level. Continuous comprehensive evaluation system has become useful in this process in testing
the qualitative aspects of affective and psychomotor learning amongst student teachers. Using
innovative ideas and techniques in testing the behavioral aspects of the teachers is the need of
the hour. Under this, the rubrics have become handy. Learning to construct Rubrics for CCE
in the changing trends of Teacher Education attracted the researcher to concentrate.40
students were chosen from methods of teaching social sciences, they were divided into two
groups one was considered as control group and another was experimental group. Post test
design was selected for the calculations. The students of experimental group were made to
prepare rubric with specific criteria for the assessment based on the objectives for the study.

RETHINKING TEACHER EDUCATION FOR LIBERATING LEARNING

In the present age, scarcity of opportunities of employment has led to cut edge
competition in pursuit of more academic certificates. So, education loses its true meaning and
purpose where learners graduate without requisite desirable knowledge, skills, attitudes, values
and competences. It is assumed that the quality and performance of education systems depend
more and more on teachers. Hence, the necessity to make improvements in teacher preparation
and training is a current issue. For this purpose, we need teacher education reform that aligns
teacher preparation with the demands of an increasingly interdependent world in the 21st
Century. Therefore, this paper asserts for the integrated use of all of higher education resources
in the education and preparation of the whole student. It calls for a radical transformation in
teacher education to bring forth learning that liberates. So it advocates for transformative
liberal education- a holistic process of learning that places the student at the center of the
learning experiences.

MAPPING THE LEVEL OF COMMUNICATION COMPETENCE AND PERFORMANCE OF COLLEGE STUDENTS OF PONDICHERRY

This paper describes the level of prevalence of communication competence and performance,
which is one of the important employability skills, among the graduates of Puducherry Union
Territory (earlier known as Pondicherry). A survey conducted among the college students of
Pondicherry has revealed that only less than 2 % of the sample possessed acceptable levels of
communication competence and performance. The outcome of the research points out the
prevalence of the ‘communication skills gap’ placing the youth of Puducherry at a
disadvantaged position to obtain, sustain and climb up the professional ladder in the competitive
global employment market. Possible cause of this scenario is analyzed and viable solutions to
tackle the issues are proposed.

INCLUSIVE EDUCATION AND ROLE OF MANUALS: FRENCH TEACHING IN INDIAN SCHOOLS

Manuals or Textbooks are a key component in most language programs. In some cases, they
serve as the basis for much of the language input learners receive and the language practice that
occurs in the classroom. They often provide the foundation for the content of the lessons, the
balance of skills taught and the kinds of language practice the students take part in. In other
situations, the textbook may serve primarily to aid the teacher in carrying out classroom
instruction. For learners, the manual may be provided by the teacher. In the case of teachers
with little or no experience, textbooks may also serve as a form of teacher training - they provide
guidance and suggestions on how to plan and teach lessons as well as strategies that the
teachers can use. As an educator, we are philosophically committed to student diversity. We
need to appreciate the fact that learning differences are natural and positive. The focus can be
on identifying individual students\\\' interests and strengths. But making inclusive education work
requires a solid support system and also effective strategies with special emphasis on the quality
of manuals used. In the Indian context, middle school language classrooms make use of specific
recommended manuals which serves the needs of all students irrespective of their interests,
learning abilities, and preferences. In this paper, the study highlights the role of manuals and
inclusive education in French Pedagogy. Are the manuals used in French language teaching
differentiated well enough to meet the needs of diverse student levels and interests? Do theexercises or activities designed at the end of the lessons cater to different learner profiles
particularly to suit the needs of students with special needs? Are the recommended manuals
sufficient to match the learning needs of students or should more reference manuals be included?
Also, talking about the formative and summative assessments, can more emphasis be laid on
differentiated exercises on oral and written comprehension rather than standard written tests
based on grammar skills? In this paper, we will consider the role of the textbook in terms of its
normal day-to-day use in teaching and learning French, and then consider its role in the process
of differentiation. We will also discuss the implications of a more detailed and positive view of
the role of the textbook, stressing upon in particular, the textbook content creation and
differentiation keeping in mind different learner needs and inclusive education.

A STUDY OF TEACHING APTITUDE OF B.ED PUPIL TEACHERS IN RELATION TO THEIR TEACHING COMPETENCY

The present study has explored the relation between teaching aptitude and teaching
competency of B.Ed. pupil teachers . A representative sample of 600 (300 male and 300
female) teachers from urban and rural B.Ed. colleges of three districts in Haryana was
randomly selected. Teaching Aptitude Scale (2002) By L.C. Singh And Dahiya and Teaching
competency Scale (2011) By B.K.Passi And M.S.Lalitha were used to collect the data. The
study revealed that significant difference was found between teaching aptitude and teaching
competency of rural male B. Ed. Pupil teachers. Similar results were found out for rural
female B.Ed. pupil teachers. However results were reversed for urban male and female B.Ed.
pupil teachers for the same comparison of teaching aptitude and teaching competency.

All developing countries are emphasizing on the need for development of women. This is a
burning issue for discussions and debates on TV channels or writing columns and articles in
News Papers. Today woman as a potent part of society has proven her abilities and also
demanding her stand and standards in our patriarchal society. But here the matter of concern is
what role our fourth pillar of democracy is playing to provide the voice to the hidden plight of
women and to assert their life? Is Indian Print Media making any efforts to bring change for
them?????????????? Every women have right to live a dignified life. As women a potent part
of world always struggle to establish their identity, their perceptions are heavily influenced by
mass media that many times objectify them. The main reason for a women’s low self-esteem is
the reflections of women she is experiencing all around her in the media, and the movies.
Wherever she glances, she sees images of females that are completely unrealistic. They are
presented to her as ideals to emulate while being out of her reach. It\\\'s no secret that women
compare themselves to the female images they see portrayed on television, film, and advertising.
At both the conscious and subconscious level, these media images of women lowers self-esteem
and affect behavior at every age and stage of life. Although it is clear that the media influencesthe way women view themselves, these perspectives also give some explanation for why some
women show resilience to the negative effects of the media, while others are dramatically
impacted. “Gender stereotyping presents a serious obstacle in the process of achieving real
gender equality and feeds into gender discrimination, which not only limits the fulfillment of the
full potential of women, but is also one of the root causes of violence against women and girls.
According to the UNESCO report in 2009, reveled, it will take another 75 years to achieve
gender equality in the media. The present research paper is based on the premise that continued
projection of negative and degrading images of women in media and it must provide a balanced
picture of her positive contribution to society.

CRY THE BELOVED COUNTRY AND THE GRAPES OF WRATH: THE CULTURAL UNIVERSALITY OF TRAGEDY FOLLOWING IMPROVISATION IN A SCENE OF (ECONOMIC) CONSTRAINT

On the surface level the two stories seem like chalk and cheese, not worth comparing; what
could one Zulu man’s quest for his son in Johannesburg and one American family’s quest for
survival in California have in common? However, if one looks closely, one will identify certain
common themes which shouldn’t go unnoticed, especially if one sees the two novels in light of
Paton’s remark: “I read for the first time John Steinbeck’s Grapes of Wrath and would soon
adopt his style of rendering conversations, indicating by a preliminary dash that a speech was
about to begin, and omitting all inverted commas. The novel made a deep impression on me…”
(Towards the Mountain, Part I of his two-part autobiography, 1980).
Through a comparison of the thematic and technical similarities in the two works, I hope to
prove that there are no cultural boundaries, no cultural specifics, to what follows from people’s
reactions to their dire economic circumstances. Indeed, tragedy and death/ suffering are the only
inevitabilities of improvisation in a scene of (economic) constraint.

Parsi woman writer to write on the theme of Partition.Bapsi Sidhwa through her extremely
absorbing and most important work, The Ice-Candy-Man, seeks to contribute to the progress of
change that has already started all over the world, involving reconsideration of women’s rights
and status and a radical restructuring of social thought. In The Ice-Candy-Man, Sidhwa wants to
have a world free from dominance (patriarchy) and hierarchy, a world which is based on the
principles of justice and equality and is truly human. In this novel Sidhwa represents a series of
female characters who have survived in a chaotic time of 1947 in India, which can be registered
as a period of worst religious riots in the history of humankind.

Today, we all are a part of globalizing era which is characterized by excellence, competitions,
quality etc. along with stress, strain on human beings. Stress is an inseparable part of human
life. To fulfill social, environmental, economic needs one has to face stress, strain and anxiety.
Particularly adolescents are marked by stressful events and psychological challenges. The
present study is an attempt to find out whether there exist any correlation between Emotional
intelligence and stress management .A sample of 200 science students studying at higher
secondary levelwas selected through random sampling technique. The correlation(r) was
calculated using Pearson’s correlation method and the findings revealed that there is
asignificant positive correlation between Emotional intelligence and Stress management.

HOW TEACHERS AFFECT ACHIEVEMENT OF STUDENTS –A SURVEY?

 In the present investigation an attempt has been made to reveal the contribution of teacher
variables in the attainment of concepts in trigonometry among students. The sample of study
consisted of 500 students (250 boys and 250 girls) of tenth class drawn from government and
private schools of Amritsar district. The results of the study revealed that both qualification of
teacher and commitment of teacher were positively related to student outcomes in trigonometry.
Multivariate regression analysis was used to study the contribution of variables of teaching
learning environment as related to the teacher in the prediction of criterion variable.

 Everyone has to make choices at different stages in their life.  Some of the most crucial relate to their education, in particular what combination of subjects they decide to take for higher-level study.  For most young people such choices take place between the ages of 14 and 18.  There is a need to guide the adolescents in planning career and making mature decisions. Both family and the school hold the responsibility of assisting the students in making competent career decisions that they are appropriate to their abilities, aptitudes, interests and other personal characteristics. In planning the career, educational aspiration of adolescents is of paramount importance, one cannot ignore this aspect while opting for a career and hence to develop career maturity among adolescents is of great concern. An insight into the possible factors underlying career maturity would suggest the guidelines for planning various activities for the students. It may also help the teachers, parents and guidance workers for developing desirable attitude in children. Subject choice is an important event of present education system. How does a student decide his subjects? Does he give importance to his individuality? The present study throws a light on these factors and criteria.
